Just adding my voice to those wanting Razah to be slightly easier to get to. I find I'm just waiting for ages in DoA for a group, that even then won't do well, and to date, given I have a life, I have only one stygian gemstone.
I am really keen to play a rit, but realise that getting a rit hero on that character will be really tough, and right now, with my monk, I simply am not capping rit elites because I doubt I'll get razah without throwing loads of money at some gems. I'm capping elites for classes that all my characters will use for that much longer in the game.
Perhaps they ought to sort out a new rit hero, and keep razah where he is. It's possible to get two of a few other classes out there after all.

Yeah, that is/might be good news. Never found the patience to finish DoA, only the first Mallyx quest which I found rather tedious(bodyblock, nuke rinse repeat..). A ritualist hero however could be very useful for farming and the like .

Well, I took the easy way and bought each of the gemstones from other players for around 100k+2k ectos or so.. After this, I took my Necro to the Heart of Abaddon with hero/hench and got Razah. I set him up with a restoration build and, IMO, he makes a better healer than a WoH Dunkoro . Though I feel he is a great asset, I do not feel he should be this hard or costly to obtain since he is just another hero in the end; although I doubt his PvE acquisition will be changed...

As much as I am pleased they are considering this. Did they really have to wait until after I paid 100k a week ago to unlock him? Looks like I should have waited, I could have saved myself 100k.

It’s just used to shut down multiple threads and make people forget about the only ritualist hero in the game, it’s the same tactic used for Factions elite missions. Community outrage for weeks on forums and in game visits till they hear “devs are looking into it” then community is happy to hear that it’s being looked in to and clams down toss in special events and then it is forgotten about. Not knocking it…it works.

Well, I am glad they are looking into it. They have made DoA such a tricky area that you generally only find groups to go in there that feature team builds that do not, by definition, include half the character classes (namely Ritu, Para, Assa, Derv, Mesmer). So try and get the hero in DoA with those classes...it's damn near impossible.
I get the feeling that most people who play PvE do not care much for DoA, myself included and that's fair enough: to each his own. But to then put the only ritu hero there seems like an unfortunate choice. I would've thought it better to have some bad ass looking hero available there of a class that you can already have. But that's just me
So as far as I am concerned, please pull Razah out of an area where only half the professions can realistically venture or add another Ritu hero somewhere else where people who don't like chore-gaming can get one.

If the DoA had like henchmen or even better (but highly unlikely ) the option to go 7 heroes I would be in there full time trying to beat it, but the fact that I need to go with a group of players turns me off. (Much like the HoH, UW, and FoW) Heck, I wouldn't mind a reduced drop rate, all I care about is being able to do the full PvE experience alone.

Yeh makes sense. It's noot that i MUST HAVE razah anyway, it just would be nice (I'm already overjoyed with the improvements they made to the game). I would like it more if they would let ppl in Canthan elite missions. Noone plays these missions anymore and theyre fun. I can still play GW very efficiently without razah, but I can't play Urgoz or the Deep

Not necessarily...they have a lot of stuff to work on as it is and they may have thought it best to give it some time and see how DoA would develop.
So, even though they may of course have decided against it, the time factor is not a real indication in my opinion. And it may simply not have been high on the priority list back then either and a new area like that needs some time to prove or disprove itself. J
ust now the quests for obtaining Olias and Zenmai have changed so it's not strange this point is reawakened.

Guild Wars, Chapter 4: Access Granted.
"In this new installment of the world-famous game series, Guild Wars, which has sold over 3 million copies so far, players who have clung to last shreds of hope will finally be given the things they desire. Join with the forces of Balthazar and battle head-to-head in classic 12v12 form. Rally with Dwayna and feel the light that is Razah descending upon the masses in a mighty resurrection of proper PvE rewards placement. Quest to your heart's delight to earn skills, or buy the ones you are too lazy to quest for! Fight in the darkest reaches of the Luxon and Kurzick territories using the new No-Restrictions Elite Mission system! Sell your items to players around the world without leaving the game with the new Auction House system, while enjoying a spam free chatting atmosphere unrivaled by other games. Purchase hairstyles, name your weapons, and live the dream, in Guild Wars: Access Granted! Enjoy PvP and PvE like never before, with the latest and greatest game-wide total skill re-balancing, that will separate PvP skills from PvE skills.
Coming 'soon'."
Sorry ArenaNet, but... you've sort of had this one coming. I understand that things take time to work out, and to program, but unless you are either extremely understaffed or just too busy thinking of what you think is "cool" rather than actually implementing any of it, there is no real reason for these massive delays. You either do something, or you don't do it, but either way, you should never leave a community hanging like you do. You don't need to keep a specific set of players, because of your sales platform, but if word gets out about how many important issues are pushed back for petty ones, you won't get the new players that you need to survive come C5, C6, and / or so on. I love this game, and enjoy it more than most others I have yet played, but waiting months, and almost years in some cases (not necessarily referring only to GW with that one), for something to be put into the game that should have been in there since the betas... It's just a little disheartening.
Do it, or don't do it. Just please, stop beating around the bush and let us know, should we keep holding out, or should we quit now to prepare for some of the new games coming out in the near future?

QUOTED FOR TRUTH.
Faer is so right. Its either make the features people ask for (not stupid ones), or don't. Just don't tell us you 'might' make them, it's stupid.

You say PvP will be 'enjoyable', yet mention nothing about it. Splitting PvE and PvP skills doesn't mean anything to PvP'ers, because PvP'ers do not care about the state of PvE for the most part. Whether you do updates for PvE is irrelevant to the state of the PvP game, because the situation is the skills in PvP are not balanced. The problem is the method of PvP skill balancing is being taken in the wrong manner - large, occasional shifts that direct the meta rather than small updates that try to keep one build from domination.
Your PvE points are largely valid, except the general cause of stagnation in PvE - the development of elite areas, the changes to AI, have made going through the endgame locales more of a repetitive drag than anything. Access to things is one point, but it hardly matters as the inherent situation of those areas is the same mobs, over and over, with the same skills. I tried the Factions elite missions during the weekends, got bored halfway, and really stopped caring - the structure of these areas (mainly with DoA) is the bigger issue.

I can't get Razah with my Assassin. Why the sweet hell can't I put two Factions classes together like I should be able to?
IS this really being considered or not? This thread is ancient by now... just about.

You say that like you expect PvE'ers to give a toss about PvP (despite claiming quite only on the flipside that PvP'ers don't care about PvE).
Make no mistake: We don't.
PvP skill balances do enough damage to PvE as it is. Constantly changing them on a weekly basis to counter whatever PvP trends might arise or suchlike would all but ruin PvE entirely (not that you care, but others do)... not to mention that it would lead to the eventual death of all skill synergy in the game if taken to its logical conclusion.
Its impossible to please all of the people all of the time. A-Net try as they can, but for the most part they get more complaints in return than praise... and there are always more issues to deal with.
*Sighs*

Isn't that what ArenaNet actually does?
Avarre, I didn't claim all of it to be complete or valid. I meant it to be a mockery of current circumstances. There was a lot more I wanted to add to it, and a lot more detail I wanted to put into what I have there, but I didn't want to write a four page report on the subject. I'm also aware that the state of the PvE environment doesn't matter to PvP players, but the PvP/PvE separation of skills thing is something PvE players have been chattering about for months, so I felt it deserved a slot in my mini-rant. I moderate the section where these people hang out and rant about the things they want to see in the game, so the least I can do is show that I pay attention to the content of the threads I lock.
In short, the point of my post was this: everything broken and / or needed will be fixed and / or implemented in Chapter N, which will be coming out sometime next century.
